Dr. Ben Chen, Ph.D., P.E., BCEE, is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of ChenMoore, where he provides strategic leadership and long-term vision for the firm’s continued growth and success. Since founding the firm in 1986, Dr. Chen has guided ChenMoore from a small engineering practice into a nationally recognized multidisciplinary consulting firm. As Chairman, he focuses on corporate strategy, governance, and mentoring the next generation of leaders while continuing to serve as a trusted advisor on complex infrastructure initiatives. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Chen has led the planning, design, and delivery of many of South Florida’s most significant utility, water resources, and neighborhood improvement projects.
A highly respected engineer and industry leader, Dr. Chen has dedicated his career to advancing the engineering profession and strengthening communities through both technical excellence and public service. He has served in numerous leadership roles with professional and community organizations, including the Florida Engineering Society, CareerSource Broward (formerly Workforce One), and civil engineering advisory boards at Florida International University, Florida Atlantic University, and St. Thomas University. His commitment to infrastructure advocacy, workforce development, education, and philanthropy has made a lasting impact throughout Florida and the engineering profession.
Dr. Chen earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil and Sanitary Engineering from National Taiwan University before immigrating to the United States to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech. As a licensed Professional Engineer and Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE), Dr. Chen’s legacy of innovation, leadership, and service continues to shape ChenMoore’s culture and commitment to delivering exceptional solutions that improve communities for generations to come.
