Jose L. Acosta

P.E., F.ASCE

Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE, is President of ChenMoore, with over 25 years of experience in civil engineering, executive leadership, project management, and business development for public and private sector infrastructure projects throughout Florida. As President, he is responsible for the firm’s strategic vision, operational leadership, client relationships, and continued growth across its multidisciplinary practice. He also serves as Principal-in-Charge for significant infrastructure programs, leading multidisciplinary teams on complex land development, water and wastewater, transportation, municipal, educational, and public works projects. Prior to joining ChenMoore, Mr. Acosta served as Director of Engineering for a multidisciplinary consulting firm, overseeing engineering operations across multiple Florida offices. His experience spans all phases of project delivery, including planning, permitting, design, construction administration, and program management, with a collaborative leadership approach focused on technical excellence, innovation, and exceptional client service.

Mr. Acosta has been a distinguished leader within the engineering profession through his longstanding involvement with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Elevated to Fellow status in 2017, he has served in numerous leadership roles, including President of the Florida Section, Region 5 Governor representing Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, Broward Branch President, and President of the Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers (CAACE). He currently serves on the CAACE Board of Directors and remains active in several professional organizations, including the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), American Water Works Association (AWWA), and the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). His professional achievements include ASCE Region 5 Engineer of the Year, Florida Engineering Society Broward Chapter Young Engineer of the Year, CAACE Young Engineer of the Year, and recognition as one of the South Florida Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40.

Dedicated to advancing both the engineering profession and his community, Mr. Acosta has served on the Industry Advisory Board for the University of Miami’s Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering and as an Adjunct Lecturer in the university’s senior design program. He has mentored Future City Competition teams, judged ASCE Concrete Canoe competitions, and actively supports numerous charitable and community organizations. Mr. Acosta earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering from the University of Miami and a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University.
