ChenMoore served as the landscape architecture subconsultant for Doral Glades Park, a 24-acre nature-themed destination celebrating the ecosystems of the Florida Everglades. The project integrated recreation, environmental stewardship, and sustainable design to create a signature community park recognized for its resource efficiency and environmental performance.
The City of Doral engaged CPZ Architects for the development of Doral Glades Park, with ChenMoore providing site planning and landscape architecture services. The 24-acre park was designed around four themed ecological zones highlighting Everglades mammals, birds, insects, and reptiles and amphibians while creating an engaging recreational destination.
The park features a 12-acre lake with kayak launch, fishing pier, loop trail, themed playgrounds, tennis and pickleball courts, basketball courts, sand volleyball, multi-use fields, picnic pavilions, an amphitheater, outdoor plazas, kayak rentals, a community center, restrooms, parking, and sports lighting.
ChenMoore provided landscape architecture, hardscape, irrigation, lighting design, permitting, and construction administration. The team coordinated project phasing with environmental agencies, incorporating exotic vegetation removal, native planting, and strategic placement of boardwalks and piers within wetland areas while balancing environmental protection with community recreation needs.
Sustainable design strategies included extensive native landscaping, high-efficiency irrigation systems, and value engineering supporting Green Globes certification goals. The completed project earned Florida Water Star Certification, Two Green Globes from the Green Building Initiative, and an Honorable Mention for the 2019 Green Globes Project of the Year.
