ChenMoore provided design and post-design services for a 4.1-mile resurfacing and safety improvement project along SR 5/US 17 (North Main Street) in Jacksonville for FDOT District 2. The project modernized roadway infrastructure through resurfacing, ADA upgrades, pedestrian safety enhancements, lighting improvements, drainage repairs, and multimodal improvements.

FDOT District 2 retained ChenMoore to provide engineering design and post-design services for resurfacing and safety improvements along SR 5/US 17 from State Street to the Trout River. The corridor includes four-lane urban roadway sections, bicycle facilities, on-street parking, and three at-grade railroad crossings.

ChenMoore prepared milling, resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation plans with four pavement designs tailored to varying pavement structures and traffic volumes. Improvements included ADA curb ramps, signing, signal backplates, pavement markings, and sight-distance enhancements.

Pedestrian improvements included RRFB crossings, PHBs, upgraded pedestrian lighting, underdeck lighting supported by photometric modeling, drainage repairs, median modifications, and access management improvements.

Services also included utility coordination, Temporary Traffic Control Plans, agency coordination, and post-design support through construction.
