ChenMoore served as a subconsultant for the 30 percent design of complete streets and streetscape improvements along Phase 1 of Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. The project advanced the City’s vision for a safer, more walkable, and bicycle-friendly corridor while preserving its iconic tree canopy and unique character.

ChenMoore supported complete streets and streetscape concepts and 30 percent design for Las Olas Boulevard Phase 1, extending from South Andrews Avenue to Southeast 17th Avenue. The project implemented recommendations from the Las Olas Conceptual Design Vision Master Plan and included three distinct character areas: Downtown, The Shops, and Colee Hammock.

The design emphasized expanded sidewalks, enhanced pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, and improved multimodal safety while maintaining efficient vehicular operations. Context-sensitive improvements were developed to reinforce the corridor’s identity and improve the overall public realm experience.

ChenMoore provided arborist services to evaluate mature date palms and black olive trees located throughout the corridor. Tree disposition plans documented existing trees and informed alternative design concepts that balanced community priorities for preservation with transportation and streetscape improvements.

In addition, ChenMoore designed irrigation alternatives for proposed landscaping enhancements and developed pedestrian-scale lighting improvements to enhance safety, aesthetics, and nighttime visibility. The multidisciplinary effort supports implementation of a vibrant, resilient, and pedestrian-oriented streetscape along one of Fort Lauderdale’s premier corridors.
