ChenMoore served as the prime consultant for the rehabilitation of Lift Station 50M for Broward County Water and Wastewater Services. The project addressed wet-weather flow limitations through hydraulic modeling, pump station upgrades, and force main evaluations to improve system reliability and long-term wastewater service.
Broward County Water and Wastewater Services retained ChenMoore to rehabilitate Lift Station 50M, located within the UAZ113 service area in the City of Lauderdale Lakes. The project was initiated to resolve wet-weather flow limitations caused by undersized pumps that were unable to overcome increased downstream system pressures during significant rainfall events.
ChenMoore performed a comprehensive hydraulic analysis of the sanitary force main network to evaluate existing system performance, support pump selection, and identify downstream force main improvements necessary to increase pumping efficiency and system reliability. The lift station operates at approximately 2,800 gallons per minute through a triplex pump configuration discharging into a 12-inch force main.
The rehabilitation design included improvements to the existing wet well, installation of new submersible pumps, construction of a new valve vault with associated valves, new bypass piping connections, instrumentation, control panels, telemetry, and new sanitary piping connections to the existing gravity sewer and force main systems. The improvements modernized the facility while increasing operational flexibility and reliability.
ChenMoore provided site investigations, engineering design, regulatory permitting, and construction phase services throughout project delivery. The completed improvements enhance wet-weather performance, improve operational efficiency, and provide more reliable wastewater service for the surrounding community.
