ChenMoore served as the prime consultant for the design of stormwater improvements along SW 54th Court in Dania Beach to reduce roadway flooding and improve neighborhood drainage. Building upon the City’s Southwest Area Stormwater Study, the project advanced engineered solutions that increase stormwater storage, improve runoff collection, and strengthen system connectivity.

The City of Dania Beach retained ChenMoore to prepare engineering plans for stormwater improvements along SW 54th Court between SW 40th Avenue and US 441. The project was initiated to address recurring roadway flooding caused by low ground elevations, a high groundwater table, and the absence of an existing stormwater management system within the public right-of-way.

ChenMoore previously completed the City’s Southwest Area Stormwater Study in 2018, utilizing ICPR modeling to evaluate neighborhood drainage conditions and identify flood-prone locations. The findings from that study established the basis for the recommended improvements advanced through this design project.

The proposed design included new stormwater infrastructure along SW 54th Court with connections to the existing drainage system on SW 40th Avenue and the planned future system along SW 43rd Terrace. Improvements included interconnected stormwater inlets, a modified exfiltration trench, and roadside swales to increase storage capacity and improve runoff collection.

ChenMoore provided topographic surveying, subsurface utility verification, geotechnical investigations, document research, site evaluations, civil engineering design, stormwater modeling, and regulatory permitting. The project provides a long-term drainage solution that improves roadway safety, enhances stormwater performance, and reduces localized flooding.
