Currie Park Project to Receive the 2023 American Architecture Award
The Currie Park project will receive the American Architecture Award for 2023 from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Now celebrating the 29th year, The American Architectural Awards® are the nation’s highest and most prestigious distinguished building awards program that honor new and cutting-edge design in the United States.
From a short list of 600 projects, the 2023 Jury for Awards selected over 200 projects by the best and foremost American design offices in the United States.
The awards will be given out on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at an Awards Gala Dinner Ceremony at the Arts Club in Chicago, honoring the winning architects, clients, and developers who have received The American Architectural Awards.

Todd Nochomson Presented at Autodesk University
CMA CAD Manager Todd Nochomson presented a class on “Plant(3D)ing Civil 3D Pressure Network Parts” at Autodesk University in Las Vegas. The conference, held November 13-15, brought together innovators in engineering, architecture, construction, product design, manufacturing, media and entertainment, to share ideas, advance industry practices, and explore opportunities for the future. Congratulations!
AWRA Annual Conference
CMA staff members Brent Whitfield, P.E., ENV SP; Stephanie Long-Marquez, Ph.D., P.E.; and Cole Benjamin, P.E. attended the American Water Resources Association 2023 Annual Conference in Raleigh, NC November 6-8. Stephanie presented the findings of her work for the South Florida Water Management District on Flood Protection Level of Service during the technical sessions.
FMEA Energy Connections Conference
CMA staff members Freeman Bass, P.E and Chris Gearhart, P.E. attended the FMEA Energy Connections Conference November 7-8 in Orlando. ASCE Miami-Dade’s Transportation and Development Institute
CMA Senior Engineer, Yulet Miguel, P.E. attended a technical session to explain the many challenges and successes with FDOT District 6’s first roundabout design and construction. Speakers included many department heads such as District Secretary, Stacy Miller and Roadway Design Engineer, Raymond Valido. The event was hosted by ASCE Miami-Dade’s Transportation and Development Institute.
FES Miami Legislative Breakfast
CMA staff Yulet Miguel, P.E., Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, FACEC, Greg Mendez, P.E., Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E., Shahin Hekmat, P.E., F.FES and Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE attended the FES Miami Legislative breakfast on November 3. Jose was one of the co-master of ceremonies and led the committee for the event. Five legislators attended including Florida House of Representative member Alina Garcia; Florida State Senator Alexis Calatayud; Florida House of Representative member David Borrero; Florida House of Representative member Vicki Lopez and Florida State Senator Ana Maria Rodriguez.
