CMA team members Rob Best, P.E. and Madeline Batey, E.I. participated in the Annual SimplyIOA Corporate 5k on May 4 at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. Proceeds from the event are donated to the Track Shack Youth Foundation and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. On April 20, CMA President Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, ACEC and Associate Engineer Madeline Batey, E.I. came to the University of Central Florida to present about CMA at the ASCE-UCF student chapter general body meeting. Go Knights!
CMA Senior Construction Specialist Saad Ashraf is currently performing construction inspections on the earthwork site near LaBelle. Last week the Contractor (Phillips & Jordan) encountered a litter of bobcat kittens and they were rescued by the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS).
The CMA Annual South Florida Family Picnic was held on Saturday, April 29 at Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek with a ‘western’ theme. Congratulations to our engineer Alessandro Bologna, E.I., who won the costume contest! Approximately 60 employees, friends and families enjoyed the day with a BBQ lunch and cake. Thank you to our Marketing Coordinator Stephanie Williams for the t-shirt design worn by all staff and to the social activities committee for planning the event! We can’t wait until next year!
CMA staff members Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE and David Castro, P.E. attended the Mega Viernes Civil 2023 Infrastructure Conference at the Convention Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 28. During this event, conferences, workshops and exhibitions were held on topics related to the construction, design and maintenance of infrastructures and buildings. Conferences for this year’s event revolved around the topic of mitigation and resilience in rebuilding the island’s infrastructure after the impact of recent natural disasters. In addition, Mega Civil Friday offered the opportunity to network with colleagues and industry leaders, and to participate in discussions about the challenges, current and future opportunities in the civil engineering profession.
