CMA participated in the 27th Annual City Island Canoe Race in Wilton Manors on May 19. Teams competed in a 7-mile relay race around the Island City with exchange points throughout the Middle River. Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. It complements similar celebrations honoring family members, such as Father’s Day, Siblings Day, and Grandparents Day. In the United States, celebration of Mother’s Day began in the early 20th century. CMA raised $3,515 for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life event at Bamford Sports Complex in Davie April 27-28! CMA was a signature sponsor and a total of 51 individuals donated to our campaign. Relay is a team fundraising event where team members fundraise for cancer research at their tables and show support to those affected by cancer by continuously walking around a track or designated path. Each event is 6-24 hours in length and each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. This is an event that also honors the lives lost to cancer, celebrates survivors, and supports the caregivers. Congratulations to ‘Team Chen Moore Crusaders!’  For more information, please visit https://www.cancer.org/involved/fundraise/relay-for-life.html

Chen Moore and Associates is providing landscape architecture services as a subconsultant to PGAL Associates for the JM Family Enterprises campus renovation and expansion in Deerfield Beach. The $150 million project includes eight structures of which three are office buildings, a two-story dining hall, conference and training center, a 20,000-square-foot sports complex, 900-vehicle parking garage and a 55,000-square-foot conference and training center. CMA is developing campus-wide landscape and hardscape plans to support the construction of the new facilities. Services include design development, construction documents and permitting. The project is being launched to attract new generations of workers and marks JM Family’s 50th anniversary. 

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day events in more than 193 countries are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.  On Earth Day 2016, the landmark Paris Agreement was signed by the United States, China, and some 120 other countries. This signing satisfied a key requirement for the entry into force of the historic draft climate protection treaty adopted by consensus of the 195 nations present at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris. Numerous communities celebrate Earth Week, an entire week of activities focused on the environmental issues that the world faces.
