Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE attended the FES Miami Legislative breakfast on November 3.  Jose was one of the co-master of ceremonies and led the committee for the event.  Five legislators attended including Florida House of Representative member Alina Garcia; Florida State Senator Alexis Calatayud; Florida House of Representative member David Borrero; Florida House of Representative member Vicki Lopez and Florida State Senator Ana Maria Rodriguez.

The event was organized by the Palm Beach County Planning Congress; Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council; and the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency. CMA Participates in FES Palm Beach Career Night

Senior Engineer David Cowan, Jr., P.E., ENV SP, attended a career night on October 24. FES Palm Beach participated in the event, which had 50 middle and high schoolers in attendance. It was an opportunity for local children to talk with local librarians, lawyers, electricians, plumbers, engineers and investors and learn what it takes to join the workforce. Panelists also discussed the economic outlook and answered questions from students.

CMA attended the Joint Professional Societies Legislative Breakfast on October 25 at the Marriott Palm Beach Gardens. CMA Director of Water Resources Brent Whitfield, P.E., ENV SP, was a co-chair and served as one of the MCs for the event. Local legislators discussed a variety of issues in a panel format including members of the Florida House of Representatives Rep. John Snyder; Rep. Katherine Waldron; Rep. Jervonte Edmonds, Rep. Kelly Skidmore and Florida State Senator Bobby Powell.

The Keynote speaker was Coree Cuff Lonergan, the general manager and director of transportation for Broward County.

CMA Staff Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity Project

CMA Staff Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity Project

On Saturday, October 14th, CMA staff members Craig Wallander, Jazmin Cruz, Ruben Soto, Maritza Figueroa and her daughter Aryana volunteered at the Rick Case Habitat Community to assist Habitat for Humanity by painting the interior of a single-family home. The group was responsible for applying the first coat of paint to the entire house, including walls, ceiling, and closets. The future homeowner Evelyn Miller was also part of the group. Evelyn is expected to move in with her husband and son by early December. Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across the U.S. and approximately 70 countries by building strength, stability, and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.  https://www.habitatbroward.org/
