Michael O’Connor, P.E., DBIA is the Director of Structural Engineering at CMA with years of experience leading the design, analysis, and delivery of traditional and complex transportation infrastructure projects across the Southeast. Michael brings extensive experience in structural bridge culvert, and miscellaneous structure design, including reinforced concrete, steel, and prestressed concrete applications. He is proficient in LRFD-based methodologies, advanced modeling techniques, seismic analysis and design, and the development of constructible, cost-efficient solutions. His portfolio includes bridges, culverts, foundations, retaining walls, and miscellaneous structures, where he consistently applies risk-based decision making and advanced analytical tools to ensure safe, durable, and efficient solutions. As a leader, Michael has built and managed high-performing engineering teams, mentoring junior staff and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. He is recognized for his ability to resolve complex multidisciplinary conflicts, streamline coordination across all disciplines, and deliver projects that meet client expectations while aligning with AASHTO, State and local standards. Beyond technical delivery, Michael plays a key role in client relationship management and business growth.
